Mixtapes (well, actually CD’s)

I’m copying my good pal Alanah’s little idea. She posts a list of music from random mixtape (or cd’s), sometimes the music is embarrassing and sometimes it’s good!
So I found one from roughly around May 2005 (I just remember making the cd in the spring and listening to it in the car every morning on my way to school… haha) and well, 2005 was my “scene kid” days. So there should be lots of interesting stuff on it… seriously.

1. Happiness by the Kilowatt - Alexisonfire
I listened to this song non-stop for months. I wish they weren’t so ruined now… and I wish Dallas wasn’t dating an idiot from MuchMusic.

2. No Transitory - Alexisonfire
Once again, I listened to this song non-stop and it was amazing.

3. Allure - Beloved
I remember when I got into this band, they broke up like a week later and I was so sad. I still think this song is really pretty and I’m not embarrassed to admit that. haha

4. His First Crush - The Bled
This song just reminds me of how in love with this band my friend Autumn was (sorry if I embarrass you Auty ;]). There’s honesty so many good memories with this band. I saw them at Warped Tour x2 and those days hold good memories forever. :)

5. Blood On Our Hands - Death from Above 1979
Finally, a band that I’m not embarrassed about completely. haha It still saddens me that I didn’t get to see them live when I had the chance, instead I went to a local show to see my stupid boyfriend at the time (the things I do for stupid… boys). I wish they were still together but hey MSTRKRFT is pretty awesome.

6. Girl’s Got a Face Like Murder - Fear Before the March of Flames
They are still one of my absolute favourite bands. I can honestly say their first album was crap though. Everyone goes on about how amazing it was, but to me it’s crap. I love their second album Art Damage and the sound of their third The Always Open Mouth rules. I’ve seen these guys twice in London and loved it both times.

7. Fashion Tips Baby - Fear Before the March of Flames
Please read above. haha

8. The Lisbon Girls, Oh the Lisbon Girls - Fear Before the March of Flames
Again.

9. Emily - From First to Last
I swear this is the only song I ever liked by them. Seriously. Oh my god.

10. The Seduction - He is Legend
Honestly one of the best bands I’ve ever seen live. Even though the singer looked like a mixture of Jesus and Charles Manson… haha but, he did get the crowd dancing and singing along so much. I miss this band a lot, damn.

11. Call and Return - Hellogoodbye
AWW MY FAVOURITE BANDDD! I love these guys so so much. I’ve seen them twice and I’ve met Forrest before. I’ve honestly loved this band since Forrest was by himself. A friend of mine from California sent me one of his songs and I’ve been in love since. They really need to come back to Ontario, soon.

12. I don’t know the name of this song - Kill the Lights
Why. is. my. ex. boyfriends. band. on. this. cd? I have no comment. Actually, I do, they were terrible.

13. I don’t know the name of this song - Machete Avenue
I used to absolutely love Chad Michaels. This song is still pretty good.

14. See Ya Later Thomas The Carburetor - Shotgun Rules
Wowww, I used to love this song so much. It made me so sad to hear that they had retired it as I only got to hear it live I believe 4 times maybe? This song was my boyfriend of 2005 and I’s song… haha. This band doesn’t seem to be that very big in the local scene anymore, unless I’m totally wrong since I haven’t seen them since 2007.

15. Thank You Gravity - Shotgun Rules
This song still rules. hahaha

16. Giving Up - Silverstein
PAULLLLL KOELHERRRRRRRRR!!!! (only one person would totally understand this totally lame inside joke… dayna!! haha) anyways. I remember seeing this band at Aggression 2005 with my good old pal Clarissa! We didn’t realize that they were going to be there and this is when they were still a local band to all of us Ontarians. The first time I saw them, they were amazing. Then that following summer, when they started getting really big and were at Warped Tour, they were total crap! Hence why I stopped liking this band. I still luv ma Paul though. ;)

17. I don’t know the name of this song - The Soap Opera Coma
I’m embarrassed. I know all the words to this song still. I can’t remember the name of the song but it’s totally the one everyone loved. You know? BURN THESE PAGES!!!!! I KNOW YOU’RE SUFFERING!!! ;) I was bffls with this band for a bit and then they turned into jerks, except Rick.

18. Forever - Throwdown
Hey Clarissa, remember how we almost got beat up at this show? ;) hahaha This band is a total joke, a total joke that I’ve seen twice.

FOR MYSELF
FOR MY FRIENDS
FOR MY FAMILY
FOREVER
I’LL TAKE THIS TO THE BITTER END!

I leave you with that.

my music has never been embarrassing!
the only thing i’m shameful about is bits of that band called weezer or something.

And Shotgun still have a building fanbase. They played the other night, and a lot of younger people were there for them.

oh my god sarah! this is kristin anne (i found your blog via myspace bulletin) but that whole mix cd is like 2005 epitomized for me.

he is legend were so good live. i have a tee-shirt and i was so weirded out by how attracted i was to the lead singer. He actually was terrifying looking yet somehow so hot at the same time?

also to fbtmf, hellogoodbye(!!!!!)alexisonfire, the bled, throwdown,…..i was fully into all of these bands in 2005 too haha.

annd it’s brutal how easy it is to sing along to all soap opera coma songs to this day. they were so good / bad back in the day. i have to disagree about them being jerks though. justin is still one of my favorite people and rick & brandon are so so nice.

now i feel like listening to that stupid song haha.

also, did you hear marcus left hellogoodbye? i was sad. he is my favorite cute diabetic.

    kristin!!! <3

omg I actualy REMEMBER your creepy attraction the the singer of He Is Legend… hahaha I remember laughing so hard at you. He was kind of attractive in this weird psycho killer look way? ;) hahaha
Honestly, I think a lot of those bands on the list, we actually saw and were at the same show! I’ll never forget those days, I friggen miss you. hahaha

Justin started being kind of rude towards me? I would wave to him or something whenever I saw him and he just gave me this dirty look. :/ Whenever I see Rick, he always comes and talks to me for a while and we catch up a little. He’s always been the sweetheart of the band. haha

I actually just read about the Marcus thing yesterday! :( :( I’m so sad. I loved himmm, he was adorable. Ugh.

2007 was only 3 months ago!
I haven’t seen shotgun in like 3 years.
and I’m not at all disappointed about that.
